Tap-off board testing PCB in situ - has tracks extending under PCB and to socket at outer edge for short connection

When a number of plug-in p.c.b.'s is used in a frame or rack and it is necessary to connect test equipment to the inputs and outputs of the p.c.b., the conventional method is to replace the p.c.b. with an extender board and to plug the p.c.b. into the other end of the board. The present tap-off board (10) has only a short connection between the plug (11) which makes the system backplane socket (4) and the socket (13) into which the p.c.b. plug (3) is inserted. Tracks on the tap-off board extend under the p.c.b. and are connected to a socket (12) at the outer end of the board, to which a test equipment plug can be connected.
