A fibre-reinforced thermosetting resin flange consists of an axial part fitting over a pipe end (or a sleeve to fit over a pipe) and the flange itself; the flange has many axial fibre reinforcement layers round its circumference which are spirally wound on, the axial part being also made of FRP. A reinforcing layer to prevent crack formation is laid at the angle between axial part and flange proper and this layer extends along both the axial part and the side of the flange.
