The floor is coated with an adhesive and lengths of the mat material are placed side by side on the floor. The novelty is that a tape with an impervious layer of e.g PVC film is stuck onto the floor. There is also a porous layer e.g. a fabric. This is placed where the lengths and arc to be joined together. The lengths are pushed down into the adhesive layer and the joint subsequently sealed.
