Railway track renewing machine - having two coupled wagons running partly on old rails and on old sleepers

The railway track renewing machine has a front wagon (4) supported by two bogies (1, 2) coupled (6) to a rear bogie, supported on one trailing bogie (3). As the machine advances the old railway lines (RV) are lifted from behind the first bogie. The second bogie runs on a shaft length of temporary rail (17) laid on the old but still serviceable sleepers (TV). A rotating wheel (12) with radial claws is mounted just behind the second bogie, and progressively draws the old sleepers up a ramp into the rear wagon. New sleepers (TN) descend a ramp (14) and are positioned ready to receive the new rails (RN). The track is then aligned and tamped to support the single bogie of the rear wagon.
