The invention provides an electric lead-acid storage battery of maintenanceless type, preservable charge with only the acid absorbed in the plates and separators. The battery is characterized in that the grids are made of an alloy of lead free of antimony, particularly lead-calcium-tin, and carry active material provided by pastes containing organic inhibitors, such as ligninsulphonic acids, and inorganic inhibitors, such as barium sulphate and alkali metal or alkaline-earth metal salts, electrochemically integrally formed and are tightly sealed within their casings to prevent access of oxygen.
