Porous crystalline Mg silicate has compsn. (dry basis) - (M2/nO)p(MgO)x(R2O3)y(SiO2)z - M=cation(s) of valency n, R=trivalent element(s), x/z is more than 0, y/z is at least 0, p/n is more than y, p, x, z= positive numbers, y=a positive number of zero; and its X-ray diffraction trace includes inter planar d spacings (A.U.) of 11.2 +/- 0.2, 10.1 +/- 0.2, 10.0 +/- 0.2, 9.8 +/- 0.2, 6.0 +/-0.2, 5.8 +/- 0.2, 5.6 +/- 0.2, 4.26 +/- 0.1, 3.85 +/- 0.05, 3.81 +/- 0.05, 3.74 +/- 0.03, 3.72 +/- 0.03 and 3.64 +/- 0.03. - It can be prepd. by hydrothermal crystallisation from a soln. contg. sources of the metals and a crystallisation promoter.
