The method involves fitting new spring supports (38) to an existing bogie, to support secondary springs (6). The spring supports are suspended on balance linkages (23) which are held on rubber mountings (20) to the bogie frame. Disc brakes (29) are mounted on the bogie. Shock absorbers control rotational movement between the bogie and the wagon frame. The pivot stub is placed in a support bearing which has a non-uniform radial rigidity.
