A method for packaging stacks of coins is characterised in that a sheet of paper (9) is partially rolled to form at least one complete circumference of a tube, the stack of coins is placed inside this tube, and the coin stack and tube are moved towards one of the ends of a track (4) delimited by two surfaces having parallel generatrices, one (1) of which is movable in the direction of movement of the stack and tube, this direction being such that it moves the tube along this track by rolling it on the immovable surface (2).
