METHOD OF IMPROVING HEAT STABILITY OF PIGMENTABLESILICONE ELASTOMERAbstract of the DisclosureA method of improving the heat stability ofsilicone elastomers is disclosed. An improvedpigmentable silicone elastomeric composition isproduced by mixing a silicone elastomer compositionhaving a vinyl radical content of from 0.01 to 0.1percent by weight with a pretreated, white clay havinga surface area of less than 50 m2/g, said surfacecontaining olefinic unsaturated siloxy groups, and anorganic peroxide vulcanizing agent. The improvedsilicone elastomeric composition is formed, thenheated to vulcanize, to yield a silicone elastomerhaving improved resistance to the effects of elevatedtemperatures. The improved silicone elastomericcomposition is also claimed. The improved siliconeelastomeric composition can be pigmented.
