METHOD OF SELECTIVE SEPARATION AND CONCENTRATION OFGALLIUM AND/OR INDIUM FROM SOLUTIONS CONTAININGLOW LEVELS OF THEM AND HIGH LEVELS OF OTHER METAL IONSAbstract of the DisclosureA novel method is disclosed which enables galliumand/or indium to be selectively separated and concentratedfrom a solution containing them in very low concentrationstogether with many other metal ions in rather high concen-trations. The solution is passed through a bed of a chelat-ing ion exchange resin having an amino carboxylic acid groupeither immediately or after the pH adjustment. Galliumand/or indium adsorbed on the chelate resin is desorbed byeluting with a mineral acid. The eluate, after the pHadjustment, is passed through another bed of a chelatingion exchange resin having an amino carboxylic acid group,and the resin is treated with a mineral acid to elute themetal ions adsorbed on the resin to thereby recover galliumand/or indium in the form of a concentrated solution.
