SCRUBBER APPARATUS FOR PURIFYING FOUL AIR PRODUCED DURING AN EMBALMING, AN AUTOPSY OR THE LIKE

ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE:An air scrubber apparatus which purifies foul airproduced during an embalming, an autopsy or the like carriedout on a work table disposed in a room. This scrubber appa-ratus comprises a housing positioned above the work tableand defining a central compartment provided with a bottomopening, and first and second longitudinal, side compartmentsadjacent the central compartment and provided with endoutlets to the room. An air filter is positioned over thebottom opening of the central compartment and comprises afiltering material including aluminium oxide and potassiumpermanganate. First and second fans move the foul air towardsthe interior of the central compartment through the airfilter for the purpose of purifying this foul air. The firstfan also transfers the purified air from the centralcompartment to the first outer compartment while the secondfan transfers it from the central compartment to thesecond outer compartment, to thereby disperse the purifiedair in the room through the end outlets of the outercompartments. At least one ultraviolet ray tube or anadditional filter may also be provided to kill germs,bacteria and the like present in the moved foul air.In order to increase the efficiency of the scrubber apparatus,a wall structure may define a substantially closed volumebetween the housing and the work table.
