17.ABSTRACTA garment having a seamless crotch is described.The seamless crotch of the present invention may beused in conventional pants, such as dress pants andjeans, as well as in shorts. In conventionally lengthedpants, an essentially curved diamond-shaped crotch piecewith concave edges and long tapering sections whichextend down the insides of the legs of the garment issewn into the garment. Forces generated by theassumption of a sitting position or by the raising of aleg of the wearer of the garment which would otherwisecause the garment to ride up the crotch are redirectedin the area of the crotch. In the crotch piece thereis no center seam along the crotch and the seams of thecrotch piece curved in directions becoming transversethrough the crotch so that the garment therefore doesnot ride up the crotch. In another embodiment a pairof shorts is described in which the crotch piece istruncated.
