ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA particulate support for the manufacture ofadsorbants for affinity chromatography on a column, saidsupport being essentially constituted by particles of abasic polymeric material adapted to be used in columnchromatography and on which are grafted, essentially atthe surface, molecules of at least one unsaturatedmonomer capable of forming a copolymer with the basicmaterial and bearing at least one chemical functioncapable of forming, subsequently, under non-denaturingconditions, a covalent bond with the ligand used in theadsorption envisaged, the amount of grafted monomerpossessing a chemical function accessible per unit ofsurface area (monomer assayed per unit of surface area)being from 10 to 500 µg per cm2 of surface area of thesupport and the ratio of the amount of grafted monomerpossessing an accessible chemical function to the totalamount of grafted monomer (assayed monomer/weighedmonomer) being from 0.05 to 0.5. The support of theinvention may be obtained by radiochemical grafting,using radiations emitted by electron accelerators orcobalt 60 sources. An adsorbant for affinity chromatog-raphy is obtained by covalent fixation on the support ofa ligand specific of the substance to be extracted oreliminated, in particular from blood.
