Abstract of the DisclosureThe invention is concerned with a docking system for loading andunloading cargo vessels in Arctic waters comprising a dockstructure open on one side, said dock structure haying a dockfloor and a substantially u-shaped wall structure with amulti-wall end wall at the shore end of said structure and twosubstantially parallel multi-wall side walls connected with saidend wall, the decks of said wall structure usually protrudingfrom the water; a piping system arranged at least in the floor ofsaid dock structure and being in a heat exchange relationshipwith the water in said dock structure; and at least one heatsupply means selected from a group consisting of a refrigerantcycle, a cooling fluid cycle, a cooling fluid outlet, a hot wateroutlet and a flue gas outlet of at least one associated treatmentor other plant, said heat supply means being connected with saidpiping system for the transfer of a hot fluid to increase thetemperature of the water in said dock structure, said dockingsystem being designed for efficient and low-cost controlled icemanagement in the berthing area and in an adjoining manoeuveringzone and for facilitating the arrivals of said vessels at and thedepartures of said vessels from berth and the control of thepositions of said vessels at berth.
