A SYSTEM FOR INHIBITING THESPREAD OF FIRE IN A BUILDING STRUCTUREABSTRACTClosure means are provided in the delivery and/or ventpaths of an air conditioning system together with controlmeans which respond to the presence of combustion in theassociated compartment of a building structure to effectclosure of the closure means when combustion therein isdetected. Preferably closure means are provided at theentry and exit points of both the vent and delivery lines toeach compartment so that the compartment in which combustionstarts is automatically sealed off from the other compart-ments to inhibit the spread of the combustion productsthrough the air conditioning system. It is also preferredthat the closure means, when moved to the closed position,divert the combustion products into a vent passage or serviceduct leading directly to the outside of the building structure.
