ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE :An improved, high intensity wet magnetic separatorcomprising an endless train of unconnected wheeled carscarrying magnetizable partitions, the cars travelling alonga vertically extending, loop-forming track. During a portionof the path of travel along the track, the cars passthrough a magnetic field and have a mixture of magnetic andnon-magnetic material in water passed relative to theirmagnetizable partitions so that the magnetics adhere to thepartitions and the non-magnetics pass through the carsinto a collector. On exiting the magnetic field, thepartitions are scoured such as by a fluid stream to causethe magnetic material to be collected. The concept ofintroducing coarse material and then relatively finer mate-rial in such a separator is also considered.
