For the production of 1,2,3-trichloro-2-methylpropane, 3-chloro-2-methylpropene is reacted with sulfuryl chloride in the presence of aldehydes and/or under the effect of light, especially UV light. The reaction is preferably performed in the liquid phase, especially at 30 DEG -65 DEG C. under normal pressure.
