A bezel (20, 120) comprises a pair of optical assemblies (40, 140) which each have two intersecting optical paths comprising a path of direct-view wide field of view in a straight line to the viewed object, and reflected path comprising a lens assembly (50, 150), an intensifier (60) which converts the visible light and infra-red in an intensified visible light, and an eyepiece lens assembly (70, 170) arranged in loop a plane perpendicular to the direct vision path. Infrared and visible light emitted from the viewed object enters through the two paths. A combiner (46, 141) arranged to dichroic prism paths of the intersection point reflects the intensified light path reflected in direct vision path, and transmits other light. In one embodiment, a separator (42) dichroic prism is arranged at the intersection of the paths to the combiner, for transmetre a portion of the visible light entering along the reflected path. In another embodiment, the input of the reflected path is separated from the direct view path.
