ECHOGRAPH PROBE AND ECHOGRAPH PROVIDED WITH SUCH A PROBE

The homogenization of the directivity of an acoustic probe is obtained by interposition of an ingesting blade (14). The thickness (e) of the blade varies depending on the coordinates of the points of the blade. The material constituting the blade has an absorption coefficient depending on the frequency. The blade profile is determined by the knowledge of the variation law of the absorption coefficient as a function of frequency. It is shown that the figure of directivity (xz) a probe having such a blade is independent of the operating frequency. The invention is used particularly in medical ultrasound for tissue characterization.
