Device for a reversible half-tone change of all string groups on a dulcimer

The half-tone lifters, hitherto used and generally found to be unsatisfactory, on the diatonic dulcimer are to be replaced by a new system. In place of the conventional lifter which lifts the string or the string group at one point, in order to modify a half tone, a half-tone changer (2) is to be used which "stops" the strings (7) simultaneously from above and below for a short distance of 3 mm. This short distance is essential to ensure that the smallest possible force is required to counteract the tension of the strings (7) and to be able to fix the changer (2) in stopping positions. This fixing is effected by means of a steel ball (3) which forces a compression spring (4), against the half-tone changer (2). The tiltable half-tone changer (2) spring (4) is mounted with its two axes between two specially drilled screws (1/5). It is stable in two positions.
