The invention relates to a device for releasing a rescue parachute for hang gliders and ultralight aircraft from a container which is provided with a closure cap and in which a recoil-operated propulsion charge body (5) is supported which is connected to the apex of the parachute (1) by means of a connecting line (8) to which, in turn, a protective cap (2) is attached which at least partially surrounds the parachute (1) and consists of fire-resistant material. Provided underneath the parachute (1) in the region of the container base (14) is an ejection element (16) which is guided on the container inner wall in the longitudinal direction and can be displaced against the parachute (1) by means of a spiral spring (4). The ejection element (16) encloses a stowage space (42, 43) for a parachute connecting line (9) which leads to an attachment point on the aircraft. On its side facing the container base (14), the ejection element (16) has a tubular projection (17) which projects through a perforation (15) in the container base (14) and is held therein by a locking device. Once the locking device has been released, the parachute (1) is pushed by means of the ejection element (16) against an impact-detonator mechanism of the propulsion charge body (5). IMAGE
