In a heat exchanger consisting of a jacket tube through which a medium flows and of a tube which extends in the interior of the jacket tube in a spiral fashion and through which a second medium flows, the tube extending in a spiral fashion is constructed as a corrugated tube the length of which is 33 to 67%, preferably 45 to 55%, shorter than the smooth tube from which it is produced.
