The invention relates to a splint for the immobilisation of the saddle joint and of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb, comprising a fixed shaped body which surrounds at least partially the thumb and the hand. It is the object of the invention to provide a splint which is better adapted to the anatomy of the hand, leaves it in its natural position and permits effective immobilisation of the saddle joint and of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb. The invention resides in the fact that the shaped body comprises a clasp which surrounds the hand and whose ends overlap in regions of the hand facing away from the thumb and can be connected together here at the point of overlap by a fixing means, preferably a hook and loop closure, or that the shaped body comprises a C-shaped clasp which encloses the thumb, the ball of the thumb, the back of the hand and the palm, and which is closed with a tensioning strap over the narrow side of the hand facing away from the thumb, a half-shell immediately adjoining the clasp on the outer side of the thumb which is closed with a further tensioning strap, and a tongue formed at the point of transition between clasp and half-shell and projecting into the region between thumb and palm.
