The invention relates to a process for reinforcing prefabricated reinforced-concrete compound units by means of reinforcing wires in order to produce mild-steel-reinforced concrete, and an apparatus for carrying out the process. The object of the present invention is to rationalize the entire operation of introducing the reinforcing means into prefabricated mild-steel-reinforced-concrete compound units by using conventional reinforcing steel in rings. The object is achieved according to the invention by the following features: a. the reinforcing wires are unwound from reels; b. the reinforcing wires which have been unwound are straightened out; c. the straightened reinforcing wires are laid out on the concreting mould; d. the laid-out reinforcing wires are stretched by subjecting them to a tensile force which is restricted such that the reinforcing wire is pulled straight but is not deformed by longitudinal extension. t
