The process for the secondary utilisation of the steam used in adsorption plants for regenerating loaded activated carbon involves condensation of the laden steam and expansion, in at least two stages, of the cooling water heated in the condenser, each of these expansion stages having a separate heater assigned thereto for utilising the energy of the expanding vapours. Said heaters are preferably elements of a downstream expansion-evaporator system.
