The jig is intended for locating a voice read (72) relative to the slot (55), through which the reed will oscillate, in the reed carrier plate (52) during closing of the reed securing rivet (56). It comprises a plate support base (51) with two projecting vertical pins (53,54) to locate the plate by engaging the ends of the slot, one pin (53) projecting by less than the thickness of the plate whilst the other (54) lifts the free end (65) of the reed to locate this laterally between inward projections (64) on two forked ends (60) of a member (59,58). This member is vertically guided on a rod (57) projecting from the base and downwardly movable against a spring (70), such that the extreme ends (66) of the fork prings prongs (60) locate the reed end (67) to be riveted between them. The bore (71) in the reed is slightly larger than the rivet dia., such that it fills when the rivet is closed. The reed is correctly located (64,64;66,66) relative to the plate, itself correctly located (53,54) on the base. ADVANTAGE - The mechanism further improves location of the reed over the main patent.
