For separating off dispersed particles from dust-containing combustion gases serving to generate heat, in particular from combustion gases which are produced in a combustion chamber on the combustion of dusty fuel, the hot combustion gas flying out of the combustion chamber is conducted into a heat exchanger, the wall of which, or the walls of which, are wetted by a liquid film on the surface facing the combustion gas. The liquid forming the liquid film is collected beneath the heat exchanger together with the particles separated off in the liquid film and conducted away. A heating device for carrying out this process (Fig. 1) is equipped with a recuperative heat exchanger (7) downstream of a combustion chamber (1), which heat exchanger has flow channels (12) for combustion gas, which are separated from a heat exchange wall (11), and a medium to be heated. A liquid film (13) can be trickled over the heat exchange wall (11) on the side which the combustion gas flows past. Beneath the heat exchange wall (11) is situated a collecting device (20, 24) into which flows off the liquid film loaded with the particles separated off from the combustion gas. IMAGE
