Manufacture of a cement from converter steel slags

Liquid final slag from the converter in converter steel production is quenched to form a granulate (granulated material) which is finely ground with gypsum and/or anhydrite to give a cement. This cement is very similar to a mineral cement. Starting with this cement, blast furnace cements can be produced, likewise pozzolanic cements. With the aid of this invention, more than 80% of wastes from smelting works can be usefully valorated. The smelting works are largely relieved of their wastes. The cement of the invention can be produced using very little energy, hardly affecting the environment.
