Capacitor-discharge ignition system for small petrol engines with a charge capacitor arranged in the primary circuit of the ignition coil, a charging coil, in which the permanent magnet of a pole wheel induces the charging voltage, and a separate ignition pulse coil connected to the control electrode of an electronic switch, especially a thyristor, discharging the charge capacitor by way of the primary winding of the ignition coil, the control circuit of the electronic switch being bridged by a second capacitor in series with a second electronic switch, which can be triggered by way of a timing capacitor, connected in parallel to the charging coil, to which capacitor a limiting resistor is connected in parallel.
