Process for adjusting section isolators with unground insulator and collector-slipper runners, and section isolator which is particularly suitable for carrying out the process

In the case of section isolators with unground insulator, the insulator is subjected to bending owing to the mechanical tensile stress present in the contact wire, said bending making it necessary to adjust, at the site of installation, the collector-slipper runners (10, 11) fastened on end fittings (2) of the insulator (1). In the case of the process according to the invention, this is avoided in that the section isolator is subjected, before installation into the contact line, to those mechanical conditions which are to be expected for it owing to the influence of the tensile stress, present in the contact wire, of a predetermined magnitude, and in that the adjustment at least of the collector-slipper runners (10, 11) is thereby effected. A number of applications of resultant forces are specified for this. For a section isolator which is particularly suitable for carrying out the process, the invention specifies a strut (24) which is in the form of a bar, can be adjusted in length and is intended at least for each of the longer collector-slipper runners (10), as well as a novel configuration of the end fittings (2) of the insulator (1) and tension elements (5) which are in operative connection with said end fittings and can be changed in length.
