Use of polyoxyalkylene-polysiloxane block copolymers as a means of improving the scratch resistance and increasing the slidability of paint surfaces

Compounds of the general formula IMAGE +TR IMAGE wherein R1 is alkyl with 1 to 8 carbon atoms, R2 is -O- or -(CH2)pO-, in which p=2, 3 or 4, R3 is hydrogen, alkyl with 1 to 4 carbon atoms or acyl, n is 40 to 60 m is 0 to 3, x and y being selected so that the molecular weight of the polyoxyalkylene block is 1400 to 3000 and the molar ratio of x:y is 0.8 to 2.2, are added to coating compositions, such as paint, varnish or lacquer, in amounts of 0.001 to 0.5% by weight, based on the coating composition. This improves the scratch resistance and the sliding ability of the cured coatings.
