In a clamping drive for a filter plant for ultrafiltration and microfiltration having filter elements constructed and operated according to the cross-flow principle, which filter elements have selectively permeable flat filter sections which are combined using spacers to form a filter stack or a filter cassette (1) and can be clamped liquid-tightly between end plates (4) having fluid ports for supplying and removing fluid flowing over these filter elements, at least one end plate (4) being guided to be axially slidable, by means of the clamping drive to achieve the sealing position, on a frame connecting the two end plates, for operation with hot media, in particular for the in-line sterilisation with hot water or hot steam up to about 120@C, the clamping drive is formed by at least one clamping bush (13), supported on the frame or on its clamping bolt (12) on one side and on the movable end plate (4), which clamping bush comprises two coaxial bush parts (14, 15) which can move relative to each other, which bush parts are subject to the expansion force of a tightening spring (16), the one bush part (15) being supported on the clamping bolt (12) and the other bush part (14) being supported on the other bush part (15) and the movable end plate (4) and depending on the setting of the two bush parts (14, 15) with respect to each other, the tightening spring (16) is blocked in its expansion or is allowed limited freedom of movement to compensate force changes in the filter element.
