The invention relates to the arrangement and construction of a separating and classifying device in a suction conveyor operating essentially between 0.6 and 0.8 bar pressure. The arrangement of sieves is known. However, the latter have not proven suitable to a satisfactory degree since the highly heated filler powder which is to be sucked out of furnaces for the manufacture of block electrodes is inclined to form agglomerations and these cannot be passed through the sieve gap and are thus fed back to the material separated off for direct reprocessing. The same applies for parts which have crumbled off the wall of the furnace. This means that the filler powder has to be changed after only a few firing processes. Therefore, the aim is to disclose a classifying device which enables relatively large agglomerations and components of the furnace wall to be reliably eliminated. The solution provides for the separating and classifying device to be a vibrating screen which is arranged inside the upper region of the intake container. In this way, it is ensured that only the undersize screenings, i.e. the filler powder, pass into the intake container for reprocessing whilst the screening overflow can be led off separately. IMAGE
