The arrangement is intended for packing one interior-spring or e.g. foam plastic mattress. The mattress is inserted in a flexible and air-impermeable envelope, compressing the mattress in its envelope followed by evacuation, after which the envelope is sealed and the mattress, thus packed, is tightly rolled and strapped. This roll is then placed in a carrier box. The envelope may be partly sealed before compressing and finally sealed after evacuation. The straps may be adhesive tapes.
