The invention relates to a process for purifying HBs antigen type particles. This process consists in increasing the density of the sample to be purified up to a value practically equal to the density of the impurities to be separated, in subjecting the said sample to a density gradient flotation ultracentrifugation by placing the said sample in the dense layers of a low-viscosity density gradient and by applying a centrifugal force of not less than 20 000 g, for a sufficient period so that the particles of HBs antigen move towards their characteristic isodense zone. Application: preparation of anti-hepatitis B vaccines. IMAGE
