The invention relates to a process for manufacturing a composite metallic part by coating or resurfacing a metallic substrate made of steel by means of a metallic layer of a ferrous alloy of ferritic nature, containing nitrogen and having a chromium content greater than 30%, characterised in that it consists in depositing the metallic alloy coating layer by means of a transferred or semi-transferred arc plasma process whose plasmid gas contains at least 20% by weight of nitrogen, the metallic alloy being introduced in the form of a coating powder containing iron and at least 30% by weight of chromium and optionally metals chosen from aluminium, niobium, titanium and vanadium.
