The invention consists in carrying out an operating cycle for a machine for extrusion blow-moulding thermoplastic materials, in which the largest number of phases are superposed on the longest phase of the operating cycle, that is the cooling of the moulded part. It consists in using elements of known and novel machines such that, on intervening in the operating cycle, they permit this superposition of the sequences, in order to universalise the manufacture of the hollow body, on one and the same machine element. For this purpose, the contact of the two half-shells is performed at the actual moment of the reversal in the direction of movement of the mould or during the descent.
