METHOD FOR PREVENTING GENERATION OF SURFACE FLAW DURING HOT ROLLING OF TITANIUM MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To prevent generation of surface flaws on a titanium material by ejecting fluid toward the surface of the titanium material and rolling said material, thereby preventing the seizure of the titanium material to guides, removing the titanium oxide on the surfaces and cooling and solidifying the molten titanium. CONSTITUTION:Water is injected from spray nozzles 4 toward the titanium material 3 during hot rolling of the titanium material 3. The water is injected in the direction opposite from the progressing direction of the titanium material and in the transverse direction of the titanium material at =100mm from the ends thereof. The flow rate of the water is preferably 0.01-0.05l/cm3 and the pressure is preferably 3-20kg/cm2G in a nozzle header. The generation of the surface flaws is prevented by the above-mentioned method.
