PURPOSE:To eliminate backlash by connecting a rotation driving means rotatively driving a table and an index driving means rotating the table by the predetermined angle to a table gear. CONSTITUTION:When a table 7 is to be rotated by a rotation driving means 55, the clutch mechanism 86 of an index driving means 56 is disengaged, an indexing pinion gear 80 is made rotation-free, and backlash is applied between it and a table gear 54 by a backlash selectively applying means 100. When the table 7 is to be rotated by the index driving means 56, the rotation driving means 55 sets a connecting releasing mechanism 63 to a release position, and a revolving pinion gear is made rotation-free. The index driving means 56 decreases he backlash between the indexing pinion gear 80 and table gear 54 to the extent possible via the backlash selectively applying means 100 and rotates a servo motor by the required number via a signal from an NC control unit.
