PURPOSE:To simplify structure of a head, to realize stable recording characteristics, and to prevent decrease of density even in contunuous recording for a long time, by a method wherein ink is brought into contact with a surface of a rotary body of which wettability is contrary to that of a dot surface, and rising ink which is formed only on the dot surface tension is caused to fly by electrostatic attraction. CONSTITUTION:Since a dot surface 1d is lyophilic, it is likely to absorb and keep ink. Besides a lyophobic surface 7d is likely to expel ink to be excluded due to its lyophobic property. Further ink adhering to the dot surface 1d is attracted toward the surface of liquid on a contact point line of the liquid surface of ink 3 to a roller 2 by surface tension of the ink. As a result of the mutual action, rising ink 13 swollen up in a bending state by surface tension is formed only at this position on the dot surface 1d. An individual switch is selectively turned on according on recording information, and the rising ink 13 opposed to an individual electrode 8 turned on flies toward the individual electrode 8 in the high electric field. Flying ink 14 is fixed on recording paper 20 above the individual 8 to form a recording dot 15.
