MODE SETTING SYSTEM FOR POOLED MODEM IN DIGITAL EXCHANGE SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To improve the operability by identifying whether or not a MODEM in a pooled MODEM selected for data communication is a high function MO DEM, and automatically generating an outgoing/incoming operation request from an interface in case of high function MODEM. CONSTITUTION:A function identification table storing in advance the identification information identifying whether each MODEM in the pooled MODEM is a high function MODEM or a standard MODEM is provided in a digital exchange 1 and a memory 602 storing the outgoing/incoming operation request information of the high function MODEM is provided to the interface unit 6 applying information transmission between the pooled MODEM and the digital exchange. The digital exchange 1 identifies whether a MODEM selected for data communication is the high function MODEM or the standard MODEM at the outgoing/incoming call between a data terminal equipment and a trunk line based on the storage information in the function identification table. In case of the high function MODEM, the outgoing/incoming operation information is read from the memory 602 to the interface unit 6 and sent to the said high function MODEM.
