PURPOSE:To obtain a homogeneous food, by mixing, extruding and expanding corn grits, a seasoning and water using a twin-screw extruder furnished with a heating means at the exterior part of a barrel and with a liquid-injection port at a specific position of the barrel wall. CONSTITUTION:A twin-screw extruder containing a pair of mutually intermeshing parallel screws 4 in a barrel 1 is furnished with a heating means 7 at the outer circumference of the barrel 1 and with at least one liquid-injection port 8 to inject e.g. water added with a seasoning. The injection port is bored on the barrel wall at a position shifted from the opening port of a hopper 3 toward the extrusion direction. Preferably, the lead of the screw 4 in a buffer zone C is made to be larger than the lead in the feed zone A and extrusion zone B and the liquid-injection ports 8 are provided at the feeding zone A and the extrusion zone B.
