PURPOSE:To obtain the excellent translucent and mechanical properties of the titled fiber and to improve the heat-resisting property of the titled fiber by controlling the total of carboxylic group and carboxylic acid anhydride contd. in a polymer of a core component to =20mueq/g. CONSTITUTION:The titled fiber comprises the polymer contg. N-alkyl maleimide monomer unit as the core component and the fluorine contg. polymer as a shell component, and the total of the carboxylic group and the carboxylic acid anhydride contd. in the polymer of the core component is =20mueq/g. The polymer contd. in the core component is not specified, if said polymer is composed of the polymer contg. N-alkyl maleimide monomer unit. Said polymer is preferably is methyl methacrylate copolymer in the optical and mechanical properties of the obtd. fiber. The preferable composition of the copolymer is 5-70% N- alkyl maleimide and 30-95% methyl methacrylate, further preferably 10-50% N-alkyl maleimide. Thus, the titled fiber has the excellent translucent and mechanical properties, and has the improved heat-resisting property for long period and the improved anti-coloring property due to heating. The titled fiber is applicable to the surroundings exposing at the high temp. of 120 deg.C.
