METHOD FOR CORRECTING BENDING HABIT OF CROSSLINKED POLYETHYLENE CABLE

PURPOSE:To correct the bending habit of a high pressure crosslinked polyethylene cable having high rigidity mechanically and simply within a short time, by a method wherein the bending habit correcting part of the cable is pressed so as to leave an interval by using a correction machine consisting of a press machine having either one of a split die having a projection and a cable press metal fitting fixed thereto and the stand holding said press machine. CONSTITUTION:The bending habit correcting part of a crosslinked polyethylene cable 1 is horizontally inserted through the cylindrical long groove between the upper and lower dies 21a, 21b of a cable bending habit correcting machine 30 and a hydraulic pump 17 is operated to push down the hydraulic ram 16 of a hydraulic machine 15. Hereupon, the upper and lower dies 21a, 21b opposed to each other through the inner surface 19c of the central part of a cable press metal fitting 19 are pressed between said fitting 19 and a stand 12 and the projection 22 of the die 21b pierces through the insulator 5 of the cable 1 to thrust a conductor 2 and the conductor 2 is fixed. At this time, both ends 19a, 19b of the lower end part of the cable press metal fitting 19 fixed to the hydraulic ram 16 press the cable 1 horizontally.
