PRODUCTION OF TROPANALKALOID BY CULTIVATING HAIR ROOT OF DUBOISIA

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled high-quality substance in high productivity without using plowed land for culture, by inoculating Agrobacterium rhizogenes into a woody plant of the genus Duboisia and cultivating an induced alkaloid- producing hair root in HF medium and HF-2 medium. CONSTITUTION:A stem part and a leaf part of a woody plant of the genus Duboisia (e.g. Duboisia leichhardtii) is sterilized with 1% aqueous solution of sodium hypochlorite, washed with sterile water, cut with a surgical knife by sterile operation, Agrobacterium rhizogenes is inoculated into the section, cultivated in a medium for plant tissue, containing no plant hormone at a bright place and then in a HF medium containing no plant hormone in a dark place to induce a hair root efficiently and to obtain tropanalkaloid.
