TOOTH PASTE COMPOSITION CAPABLE OF BUFFERING PH

PURPOSE:The titled composition that is obtained by adding a pH-buffering agent and sodium polyacrylate to a tooth paste composition containing anhydrous silicic acid as a major component, thus having increased pH-buffering action to keep the oral cavity neutral whereby tooth decay and deposition of dental calculus are effectively inhibited. CONSTITUTION:A tooth paste composition containing anhydrous silicic acid as a major component, preferably by 5-30wt% is combined with a) sodium polyacrylate and b) a pH-buffering solution, preferably a disodium hydrogen phosphate or a mixture thereof with sodium dihydrogen phosphate at a ratio of 0/1-1/1 in an amount of preferably 0.3-5.0wt% of component (a) and 0.5-5.0wt% of component (b) based on the total composition. A synergetic effect is developed to show good pH-buffering performance whereby the oral cavity is kept at 6-8 to prevent the tooth decay or deposition of dental calcu lus.
