PURPOSE:To enable a title magnet to hold a maximum energy product of a demagnetizing curve excellent in rectangularity by applying a suitable aging process to a magnet composition which has particular cell phases and mesh phases. CONSTITUTION:In a sintered R2Co17 magnet having an intra-grain construction which is comprised of cell phases consisting of 2-17 phases and mesh phases consisting of 1-15 phases, by selecting an aging process temperature within a certain limited range, the long axis (a) in cell phases 1 within a crystal grain is made 100nm or more, the short axis is made 70nm or more, and the width of mesh phases 2 is grown to be 100nm or more, whereby the number of ruptured parts having a length equal to or greater than 50nm in the mesh phases 2 is made 5 or less per 105nm. With this, a magnet is obtained which has a high maximum energy product of a demagnetizing curve excellent in rectangularity.
