PURPOSE:To efficiently remove air or vapor of a volatile substance, by providing a slit of special structure or receiving surface in the interior of a deaeration tank for molten pitch and dropping the molten pitch in the form of a thin cylindrical film in the deaeration tank. CONSTITUTION:A deaeration tank 10 is constituted of a cylindrical body 11 having a discharge hole at the bottom, a lid 12 provided with a pitch feed port 14, nitrogen inlet 14 and vent hole 16 and a thin film forming tool attached to the undersurface of the lid 12. The thin film forming tool is constituted of a disk 23 having a pitch inlet hole 31, liner plate 24 and the second plate 25 thereunder. Molten pitch introduced from the feed port 14 and inlet hole 31 is formed into a thin film with a slit between the disk 23 and the second plate 25, dropped from the outer edge of the second plate 25 to reach the bottom while forming a thin cylindrical film and deaerated during the time.
