DATA RETRIEVING DEVICE FOR ROTATING HEAD TYPE TAPE RECORDER

PURPOSE:To attain a high speed and correct data retrieval by using pulse signals respectively proportional to the number of rotations of a reel to measure the quantity of a tape travel and high speed traveling at a second speed at which address information can be read after the tape reaches in the vicinity of a target position. CONSTITUTION:The first and the second pulse signals respectively proportional to the number of the rotations of a tape supply side reel and the tape take up reel side are used to detect that the tape reaches in the vicinity of the target position based on the quantity of the tape travel, high speed travel the tape at the second speed at which the address information is read from a rotating head and retrieve the data. Thereby, the tape travel speed during the retrieval of the data is not regulated to a constant value but the data can be retrieved at high speed and the quantity of the tape travel is measured without reading the data recorded on the tape, so that the tape can be correctly reached to the vicinity of the target position without being influenced by a drop out or the like and the data can be correctly retrieved.
