PURPOSE:To obtain the titled austenite steel having excellent properties, by loading a steel powder with a specified composition into a capsule, evacuating the capsule, and subjecting the steel powder to hot hydrostatic pressing at a specified temperature to obtain an austenite steel with a high age hardness. CONSTITUTION:A steel powder (generally having a particle diameter of 50- 500mum) having an alloy composition consisting of 0.65-1.40% C, 10.00-20.0% Mn, 7.00-15.00% Cr and 2.00-6.00% one or more of V in an amount of 2.00- 6.00%, Nb in an amount of 2.00-6.00% and Ti in an amount of 1.80-5.00% and the balance of Fe and impurities as a starting raw powder is loaded into a capsule. The capsule is evacuated, and the steel powder is subjected to hot hydrostatic pressing at 1,050-1,250 deg.. Thus, carbides of V, Nb, Ti, etc. are made fine, the amounts of the carbides precipitated in the process of solid solution treatment and age-hardening treatment are increased, and an austenite steel with a hardness of about HRC 50-55 can be obtained.
